On Wed, Nov.16 from 2:30-7 pm an Open House at the Library will be held to celebrate and thank Carol Grainger for the many years of service she has given to the library. While Carol will be sorely missed,she has not gone away! She will continue her involvement with the Friends of the Library and as a per diem substitute. Carol has remarkable value as a community leader, who we will rely on for assistance well into the future.  Happy Retirement MOM!!

The Library Board of Trustees will meet on  Wednesday, November 16 at 7 pm at the library.

The Pittsfield Fire Department is sponsoring the Secret Santa program.  This program assists approximately 200 children (ages birth – 14) in our community.  Toys, a warm outfit and any needed winter outerwear is provided to the children.  The program runs on donations – new, unwrapped toys or clothing can be dropped off at the fire station by Nov. 15.  Monetary donations (payable to Pittsfield Secret Santa) are gladly accepted also.  For more information, contact Kris at the Fire Dept at 435-6807 or email   pittsfieldsecretsanta@gmail.com.

The 14th Annual Holiday Fair sponsored by the Pittsfield Girl’s Basketball team will be held on Sat, Nov. 19 from 9-2pm at the PMHS gym.  Please contact Heidi Hall at heidihall32@yahoo.com for more information and registration forms.

At the Josiah Carpenter Library the After School Maker Lego program resumes! Please join us for Lego fun on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 on November 16, 30 and December 7, &14.

Mark your calendar! The Dorcas Guild of the First Congregational Church, 24 Main Street, is holding its annual Christmas Fair and Bake Sale Saturday, November 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.   There are many handmade items to choose from as well as gourmet products, baked goods, “Unique Boutique” and the wonderful silent auction. Corn chowder and sandwich lunch with homemade pies will also be available. Plan to be there for this handcraft goldmine!    Since the Dorcas Guild will NOT be holding its annual Craft Fair this year, final silent auction bids are due in no later than Sunday, December 4, 12:30-2:30, when the auction will end and the successful bidders will be notified.    Plenty of free parking in the rear (enter on Chestnut Street), and the church is wheelchair accessible. St Stephen’s Annual Holly Fair will be held on Saturday Nov 19th from 9-2 in the undercroft of St Stephen’s, 50 Main St  beside Dustin Park. Our Holly Fair features many handcrafted holiday decorations: wreaths, centerpieces and various sizes of snowmen and reindeer constructed from birch logs. We have a bake sale as well as breakfast and lunch offerings in our cafe. A large silent auction features many interesting and antique collectibles.

The Pittsfield Players present “Oklahoma!” on Nov. 13 at 2pm and  Nov. 18 & 19 at 7:30pm and at the Scenic Theatre on Depot Street.  Tickets are $17 per person and may be purchased by visiting the Players’ website  www.pittsfieldplayers.com and clicking on the Ticket leap button or by calling 435-8852- please spell your last name s part of your message.

The Pittsfield Police Association is sponsoring a Comedy Show Fundraiser on Fri., Nov. 18 at 7:30 pm at the Dell-Lea Country Club in Chichester.  Tickets are $15 each.  The 21+ show starts at 7 pm and will feature 3 comedians from the Boston area- doors/Cash Bar open at 6 pm.  For tickets, call 435-7535.

The PMHS Fall Athletic Awards Night will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 6:30 pm at the PMHS Gym.

The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce will hold their monthly meeting on Mon., Nov. 14 at 7 pm at the Community Center, lower level.

The Pittsfield Circle of Home & Family will meet on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 pm at the Community Center, lower level.

A joint meeting of the Board of Selectmen and the Budget Committee will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 6 pm at the Town Hall.

The Infant Toddler Diaper Pantry will be open on Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 9-11 am at the First Congregational Church.  Young families are given supplemental diapers and wipes.  Everyone is welcome.  Please use the Chestnut Street entrance.

Grace Capital Church of Pittsfield in collaboration with the Capital Area Public Health Network and the Pittsfield Wellness Coalition is sponsoring an event to offer training in the administering of Narcan. Narcan is a special medication that temporarily reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. The event is open to the public and will take place Tuesday, November 15 from 6-8pm at the Grace Capital Church, 55 Barnstead Rd.  Trained participants will be given one Narcan kit. To be sure there are enough kits available, an anonymous RSVP page has been set up here.
