The Read Meet & Talk book club will discuss “Still Life with Breadcrumbs” by Anna Quindlen. The book club meets at the Pittsfield Senior Community Center  on Tuesday, October 25th   at 10:30.  Stay for a leisurely lunch afterward.

The Pittsfield Circle of Home & Family group will meet on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7pm at the Community Center, lower level.  New members are always welcome – for more information, contact Andi Riel at 435-6346 or pittsfieldtowncrier@hotmail.com.

The Pittsfield School District Community Conversation Series will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 6-7:5pm at the PES Café.  The topic of discussion will be: Exploring Competency-Based Education in Pittsfield’s Schools – How is CBE different from school as we knew it?   Why are we making this change?  All are welcome -come and learn about OUR school.  For more information, contact Susan Bradley at 435-6701 or sbradley@pittsfieldnhschools.org.

The Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session at the Town Hall on Thursday, October 27th from7:00pm – 7:30pm to make corrections and register new voters for the State General Election to be heldNovember 8, 2016.

Friends of the Library will be holding their annual Poinsettia Sale.  Order forms are available at the library through Nov. 7.  Plants will be ready for pickup at the library during the first week in December.

The Board of Selectman will be meeting with the Budget Committee to start reviewing the 2017 municipal budget on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 6pm at the PES Library.

The PES PTO is sponsoring Trunk Or Treat on Friday, Oct. 28 at the PMHS Student Parking Lot.  Trunk entry is from 6-6:30pm (no entry after 6:30pm) and Trunk or Treat runs from 6:30-7:30pm.  Snacks and drinks available for purchase. Win a prize for best decorated trunk.  Win a prize for best costume. Candy donations welcome.

The Braiders of the Lost Art cordially invite you to attend our open house on Oct. 23 from 1-3pm at the Northwood Community Hall at the corner of Main and School Streets.  Braiders will be on hand to demonstrate and explain their passion for this old time craft.  Check out our Facebook page for more information on our guild.

The Pittsfield Conservation Commission will meet on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 7pm at the Town Hall.

The Pittsfield Youth Workshop  will hold Drop-In hours Mon – Fri from 3-6pm.  A few highlights for the week include:  Mon- Board Games – LIFE;  Tues- Pumpkin Carving;Wed – Cooking Matters Class from3:30-5:30pm –   The youth will practice preparing dinners, lunches, snacks, and breakfast. All meals are healthy, low cost, and tasty; Thurs & Fri- Haunted House Set Up.  Don’t forget to stop in on Monday, Oct. 31 from 6-8pm and go through the Haunted House..  For more information, contact Zach Powers or Paula Martel at 435-8272.

4-H Candy Bars are Here!!  Six flavors are available – milk or dark chocolate, caramel, crisp, and almond.  The bars are $1.00 each.  The candy bars are available from any Victory Workers 4-H Club member or leader or you may call Mark Riel at 435-6346 if you would like to purchase some.

The Pittsfield Fire Department is sponsoring the Secret Santa program.  This program assists approximately 200 children (ages birth – 14) in our community.  Toys, a warm outfit and any needed winter outerwear is provided to the children.  The program runs on donations – new, unwrapped toys or clothing can be dropped off at the fire station by Nov. 15.  Monetary donations (payable to Pittsfield Secret Santa) are gladly accepted also.  For more information, contact Kris at the Fire Dept at 435-6807.

Trick or Treat in Pittsfield is on Monday, Oct. 31 from 5-8pm.

The PES Halloween Parade will be held on Friday Oct. 28 starting at 1:15pm – parade route is through the downtown area.
