CAMELOT, the magical home of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, is coming once again to Pittsfield when the Pittsfield Players present the beloved Lerner and Loewe musical on November 9, 10, and 11, as well as the following weekend, November 16 and 17 at the Scenic Theater. All shows are at 7:30 pm except the matinee at 2 pm on Sun, Nov. 11. On November 6th at 6:00 pm the Pittsfield Conservation Commission and Bear-Paw Regional Greenways will host an informational meeting at the library.
Snowmobile Safety Course with the Suncook Valley Snoriders will be held on Sat, Nov 10 at the Barnstead Parade Fire Station from 8:00a-3:00p. Lunch is provided. Suncook Valley Snoriders 18th annual Ham & Bean Supper will be held on Sat, Nov 10 at the Barnstead Parade Fire Station from 5:00p-7:00p. Adults: $8.50; Ages 6-12 $5.00; Ages 5 and under eat Free. We invite our SVSR trail system Landowners to come on down for a free hot meal and a hearty Thank you from the Suncook Valley Snoriders snowmobile club.
The State General Election day is Tues, Nov 6. The polls will be open from 7 am – 7 pm at the Town Hall.
The Victory Workers 4-H Club will be selling 4-H Candy Bars for the 1st fundraiser of the year. The bars are only $1.00 and come in almond, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, krisp, and caramel. The bars can be purchased from members.
With basketball season right around the corner, we are looking for coaches for the following teams: Pre k/ kindergarten ( practice a week), 1-2, 3-4 boys, 3-4 girls, 5-6 boys, and 5-6 girls. Joy Church (55 Barnstead Rd) is having a free family movie night on Friday, 11/2 at 6:30. We will be watching Hotel Transylvania 3. Everyone is invited – we will have free popcorn, candy, and drinks. It’s a fun time for the entire town!
The Friends of the Josiah Carpenter Library annual poinsettia sale offers red, white or marble poinsettia plants for gift giving or display purposes. Plants may be ordered by using the form found on the library website, by coming into the library or by purchasing at Election Day in the town hall. The plants, grown by Ledgeview Greenhouses in Loudon, NH, may be ordered through Nov 6th. The plants will be available for pick up at the Josiah Carpenter Library, 41 Main St., beginning on Wednesday, December 5. Plants are available in three colors and in four different sizes; 6.5 inch pot with 1 plant for $11.00; 7.5 inch pot with two plants for $17.50; 8.5-inch pot with 3 plant for $20.25 and 10-inch pot with 4 plants for $25.00. There is nothing like a hot bowl of soup to warm the tummy on a cold night. “Soup’s On” offers the opportunity for church and community members to gather for a meal and fellowship. Every fourth Monday through the winter from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 24 Main St. Your choice of two hearty soups, bread and beverage will be served. The only cost is your love offering. Come and join in on the good food and fun.
Kentek Corporation and Martha and Richard Moloy are sponsoring the Pittsfield Players’ presentation of CAMELOT at the Scenic Theater on November 9, 10, 11, 16, and 17 and the Players are grateful to them for their backing of the show. However, more sponsors are needed to help defray the costs of rental of swords for the knights as well as the training by the Fight Choreographer, J. D. Lariat, both of which come to an extra $1000 in costs to stage the show. The Friends of the Josiah Carpenter Library are sponsoring a raffle whose items have been generously donated by 14 local business. The prizes include a unique hand-made decorative item that reflects the basket’s Thanksgiving theme. The basket will also include $40.00 dollars of scratch-off tickets sponsored by the Friends group. Chances to win this valuable basket will be available at the library and at Town Hall on Election Day, November 6, 2018. Prices of the tickets are one for $1.00 and six for $5.00. The winner will be drawn on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018 and the winner notified by phone. The PES PTO has collection boxes at a few local places to collect coins and dollars. All money will be collected and tallied during the week of November 8-12th. We will then work with teachers and administration to allow students who are less fortunate choose a new book at the Book Fair. The collection boxes are located at the following businesses: Danis Supermarket, Mike’s Meats Shoppe,
Maxfield’s Hardware store, Town Hall, Bell Brothers, and Jacks Pizza.
The Pittsfield Fire Dept is planning for Christmas. The Secret Santa program benefits families in need within our community. Approximately 200-250 children each year, ages birth to 14 years are assisted. We provide not only toys but a warm outfit and any needed winter outerwear. This program is fully funded by donations from local individuals and businesses. If you would like to assist, donations of new, unwrapped toys or clothing can be dropped off at the fire station at your convenience. Monetary donations are also very much appreciated. We would like to have all donations received at the fire station by November 15th to help us determine what gifts still need to be purchased. If you will be donating toys or clothing, please contact Kris at the Fire Station at 435-6807 to coordinate a time to drop them off, or arrange for us to pick them up. During the months of October and November, the Pittsfield Advent Christian Church (68 Main St) will be collecting winter coats and jackets to share with Pittsfield residents. If you would like to be a part of this outreach, you can drop the coats off at the Church (next to the Community Center) on Sundays from 10:00- 11:00 or call 848-8050 to arrange another time.
