Please join the members of our First Impressions Committee on Wednesday, October 17th from 6-8 PM at the PMHS media center for a forum on Pittsfield’s Downtown. Pittsfield has had the opportunity to partner with Tilton NH through a program offered by the UNH Cooperative Extension called New Hampshire First Impressions and we will get the see the results of their impression and work on a community-driven agenda aimed at the future of the Downtown. The New Hampshire First Impressions is an innovative assessment program that examines a downtown through the eyes of potential residents, visitors, and businesses, helping communities to learn about their downtown’s assets and opportunities for improvement. The Infant Toddler Diaper Pantry will be open on Tues, Oct. 16 from 9-11am at the First Congregational Church. Young families are given supplemental diapers and wipes. Everyone is welcome. Please use the Chestnut Street entrance. Monetary and product contributions are always welcome. Please call the church at 435-7471 to arrange for drop off.
Bone Builders Exercise Program meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 9:00 am at the Pittsfield Senior Center This is a free one-hour weight training program that is designed to help increase your muscle strength, bone density, and balance. Bone Builders Exercise Program relies upon weight bearing exercise to protect against fractures. Bone Builder’s Class is held on the first floor of the Pittsfield Community Center. Beginners and advanced participants welcome and weights are provided. Please call the Senior Center at 435-8482 for more information.

Library Story Hour for preschoolers, families, and caregivers will continue on Thursday at 10:00 am, and Adventures Club for children in kindergarten thru 3rd grade will continue on Tuesday from 3:30 – 4:45 pm. Younger children will be learning about the stars and the solar system.

The application for an absentee ballot for the State General Election (Nov. 6) can be downloaded by visiting the town website at www.pittsfieldnh.gov or may be obtained at the Town Clerk’s office. Absentee ballots will be mailed as soon as they are available.
The Victory Workers 4-H Club will be selling 4-H Candy Bars for the 1st fundraiser of the year. The bars are only $1.00 and come in almond, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, krisp, and caramel. The bars can be purchased from members or at our next 4-H PROMOTION EVENT on Saturday, October 13th. Our Fall Festival at Duane’s Family Farm on Suncook Valley Highway will be a day to attend. Animals, Bake Sale, Make it Take it’s, Games and Lunch Menu of Soup and Sandwich come out and support your local club members from Barnstead, Pittsfield, Epsom, Alton, Chichester, Loudon, and Rochester.
The Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association is having a Flu Immunization Clinic at the Pittsfield Senior Center on Friday, October 19, from 10:00am-12:00 pm. If you do not have an insurance card the cost will be $30.00, but it will be free if you have a card from Medicare B, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Harvard Pilgrim, or Anthem. The center is located on 74 Main St. in Pittsfield. There are no lines so just come in.
The Suncook Valley Area Lions (servicing Pittsfield and Barnstead) have pumpkins for sale to help with our eye care programs. If you need a pumpkin and want to help others please get your pumpkins from us. Look for us at Mikes Meat Shoppe on the corner of Upper City Rd. and Rt. 28, or call 435-5052 and we can make it happen! We will be set up on Sunday selling pumpkins.
The Parks & Recreation Committee and Rotary Club will sponsor a movie night on Fri, Oct. 19 at 6:30 pm at PMHS Lecture Hall. The movie, “The Goonies” will be shown.
The Parks & Recreation Committee is sponsoring Harvestfest on Sat, Oct. 20 from 11-3pm at the F.B. Argue Recreation Area (aka Town Beach). Free Admission but donations for the Pittsfield Food Pantry and PES Food For Kids will be collected. There will be Free Horse Drawn hayrides (starting at 112 pm, pumpkin carving, face painting, games, and activities. Refreshments- burgers, hotdogs, popcorn, soda & water will be available for purchase. The Lions Club will be selling Caramel apples and pumpkins to take home.
The PES PTO is sponsoring Trunk or Treat on Sat, Oct 20 at the PMHS Student Parking lot. Trunk entry is from 6-6:30 pm and Trunk or Treat runs from 6:30-7:30 pm. (Vehicles must remain in place, may exit at 7:30 pm) Please consider a canned donation to PES Food 4 Kids. Bring your carved pumpkin to be displayed and lit on the scaffolding. Snacks and drinks will be available. Win a prize for best-decorated trunk and for best costume. Candy donations welcomed.
The PMHS Class of 2020 is sponsoring a Haunted Hallway at the high school on Sat, Oct 20 in conjunction with Trunk or Treat. The price is $3 per person.
PES PTO is trying to be creative in ways to help the school district raise funds. One way that everyone can help without spending extra money is to save BOX TOPS. BOX TOPS are found on HUNDREDS of products and the school gets TEN CENTS for each one returned! Even if you don’t have youth in the school system, you can help by clipping the BOX TOPS. The BOX TOPS can be dropped off at Danis Supermarket, Pittsfield Town Hall, Forest B Argue Recreation Area (Town Pool), Pittsfield Fire Station, Joy Church, Epping Well and Pump, Mike’s Meat Shoppe, Globe Manufacturing, and Pittsfield Elementary School.
