The Historical Society will host the program, “History of Globe Manufacturing, LLC” on Wed, Sept. 13 at 7 pm at the Society Headquarters, 13 Elm Street. The program will be presented by Doug Towle, VP of Marketing at Globe. Doug’s presentation will be on the History of Globe, its growth and the recent acquisition by MSA. Globe Mfg. established by F. H. Freese began to produce Fireman’s service suits in a small room located over a harness shop with 5 employees. This has evolved into the present day firm with over 450 employees. The program will conclude with a question-answer period and stories from the audience about their experiences at Globe.

The Friday Night Kayak Group will meet every Friday at 6 pm at a different local location for a fun paddling trip. The group is open to everyone. Visit the website, huffnpuff.info for more information and location of the next trip and add your name to the email list or call Paul Oman at 435-7199.

The local TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group meets each Tuesday at 6:30 pm at Berakah on Fairview Rd. For more information, please contact Pat at 435-5333 or Beth at 435-7397.

The Parks & Recreation Committee will meet on Tues, Sept. 12 at 6:15 pm at the Town Hall.

The American Legion Peterson Cram Post 75 will meet September 11 at 7:30 PM at Post home, located at 3 Loudon Rd. The September meeting will be busy with details of how the Post is progressing in a new direction under the leadership of Post Commander James Edgell; POW/MIA Recognition Day and Veterans Day. The Pittsfield American Legion Peterson-Cram Post 75 is looking for at least two individuals that would like to sing the National Anthem for the annual Installation (First Monday in May); Memorial Day; Veterans Day and at other special programs as they occur. If we receive more than two nominees, (duo’s or a small group are welcomed to apply), we will do it by an elimination process where the nominees will have to sign the National Anthem at our post meetings beginning September 11, a 7:30 pm at the Post Home at 3 Loudon Rd; until two are chosen. REQUIREMENTS: Anyone in PMHS or home school. If in grades 7-8, a permission slip from both your parents/legal guardian and your school advisor would be required. If in high school, a permission slip from your advisor would be required. This will ensure that they know and approve of what you want to do. This will count as Community Service and patriotism recognition by the Post. The Pittsfield High School Alumni Association will meet on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7 pm in Room 126 at the High School. If you attended or graduated from Pittsfield High School, you are a member of the Alumni Association – and we would love to see some new faces at our meetings!

The Pittsfield Players are looking for a few good men to fill two major roles and knights in their fall production of Once Upon A Mattress. The show runs the second and third weekend in November. Interested? Contact maye@pittsfieldplayers.com.

The Greater Pittsfield Chamber of Commerce will hold a regular business meeting on Mon, Sept. 11 at 7 pm at the Community Center, lower level.

PMHS Homecoming will be held Friday – Sat, Sept. 15 & 16. On Friday – at 5:30pm – Parade of classes; 6pm – PHS Alumni Association Electronic Sign Ribbon Cutting; and 6:15pm – Varsity Volleyball games. On Sat at Drake Field – 9 am – SVSC games – B Field & squares; 11am-Varsity girls soccer vs Farmington (A Field); 1 pm -Varsity boys vs Farmington (A Field); 3 pm – Middle School boys & girls soccer games (A & B Field). At 6 pm PMHS Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at PMHS gym; At 7:30 pm – Middle School Dance (7:30-9:30) at PMHS Café and High School Dance (7:30-10:30) at PMHS Gym. On Sunday at 9 am, the 11th annual PMHS Boys Basketball Golf tournament at Loudon Country Club.

The PES PTO will meet on Tuesday, Sept 12 at 6:30 pm at the PES Library. Please plan to attend the welcome gathering and participate in the elections of officers for the year. NEW members are needed.

The after school “Cozy Nook Book Adventure Club” at the Josiah Carpenter Library will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 3:30 pm. For more information, please call the library at 435-8406.

Upcoming Joy Church events at 55 Barnstead Road include Beth Moore Simulcast 9:30 a.m. on Sat, Sept 16 and Joy Church Grand Opening Celebration! 9:30 a.m. on Sun, Sept. 17. The regular weekly schedule includes: Sunday Service 9:30 a.m. and Thursday night Youth Group – Students in grades 6 – 12, 6:30 – 8:30

The Supervisors of the Checklist will be in session on Mon, Sept. 11 at the Town Hall from 6-6:30 pm. They will be making corrections and registering new voters for voting day, Sept. 19th on Teacher contract.
