Pittsfield Old Home Day is Saturday, July 22. “Pittsfield Goes to the Circus” is the theme of the day and there are lots of things to do – please be sure to come to Main Street and Dustin Park and show your support. Here’s what’s going on:
On Friday, July 21- the Suncook Valley Rotary Club will be sponsoring a FREE Outdoor Movie, “DUMBO” at Drake Field at 8:30 pm. Bring your blanket and chairs. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
Also on Friday, from 4-6 pm stop in at St. Stephen’s Church to place your bids on their fabulous Silent Auction items.
On Saturday, July 22: (NOTE- Main Street will be closed from 8 am until after the parade)
From 7-10am – Breakfast will be served at the Park St. Baptist Church – cost is by Donation
Starting at 9 am -St. Stephen’s Church Fair – Silent Auction, Baked goods and Joe’s Famous hot dogs and lots of other food.
A Community Fair at Dustin Park with Vendors and Local organizations having booths set up. There will be a Free Kids Craft Table, Carnival Games, Face Painting, Prizes in the sawdust and a Bubbles Station. Music will be provided by Don Smith. Community organizations can participate for free, and the vendor fee is $10.00. If you would like to set up a table or booth please contact Leslie Vogt at 435-7993 or lesliegvogt@gmail.com.
Car Show – from 9-12, come to Main Street and check out the cars. All are invited to bring their Classic, Vintage or Hot Rod car or truck – no entry fee. The first 60 participating cars will receive a $5 voucher good at Select vendors at Old Home Day. Cars/Trucks are invited to join in the parade at 1 pm.
The Victory Workers 4-H Club is sponsoring the “Best Flavored Popcorn” Cookoff. There is still time to register – create your best batch of flavored popcorn and bring it to the 4-H booth at Dustin Park by 9 am on Sat, July 22. The public will taste them all and vote for their favorite. CASH prizes (1st- $75, 2nd-$50, 3rd-$25) will be awarded to the winners. To register, call Andi Riel at 435-6346.
The Historical Society on Elm Street will open at 9:30 am. Stop by and check out all the great local artifacts on display.
Jackie Lee will provide music from 10-noon……..on Main Street.
Artsfest (Family Circus Show) will be set up in Dustin Park – they will feature aerial tricks, trapeze acts, hooping and more. They will have mini shows and then there will be chances for kids to try a trick. Watch for jugglers and stilt walkers too!
Tricky Dick’s Magic Show – a Strolling Magician, will be in Dustin Park from 10-11:30 am.
JuJuBee the Clown, Balloon Twister will be on site making FREE Balloon Art for kids from 10:30-12:30 pm.
Kids Games – Pie Eating Contest, Water Balloon Toss, Sack Race and 3 Legged Race will take place (around) 10:30.
At 11:30 in front of the Bandstand, members of all ages from the United Martial Arts Academy will demonstrate karate.
KIDS BIKE PARADE – decorate your bike, scooter or wagon on your own and bring them to Main Street at Noon. The Kids Bike parade will go right down Main Street. Prizes for the top three winners!
The main Parade starts at 1 pm. Groups, organizations, sports teams, churches, neighbors are all encouraged to put together a float – or walk in the parade. Please call Mark Riel at 435-6346 to register for the parade.
After the parade – stop in at the F.B. Argue Recreation Area (aka town pool) from 2-4pm for Free Swim and a cookout (for $2/person – 1 Burger/Cheeseburger or 1 hot dog, chips and soda).
Adopt A Duck Race will take place at 2:30 pm at the Boat Launch at Drake Field. It is sponsored by and money raised for the PMHS Basketball Program. $5/duck or 3 for $10. One prize for half the money collected. 500 Ducks are waiting!!! Call Jay Darrah at 435-6701 for tickets.
Battle of the Badges Softball game at Drake Field will start at 3 pm. Members of the Pittsfield Police Association vs Members of the Pittsfield Fire Association. Free Admission and concession stand will be open.
Fireworks will end the day at Dusk (approximately 9:15 pm) at Drake Field.
The Old Home Day Committee would like to thank everyone that helps to make this event happen! We do meet on Sunday morning at 8 am on Main Street to clean up – if anyone wants to join us!
Pittsfield Balloon Rally’s Frank H. Donovan 5K race will be held Sunday, August 6th at 9:00 am, starting at Drake Field. Registration at lightboxreg.com or paper app on the back of the brochure/ available thru Lightbox. Pre-registration cost is $20 and Race Day registration is $25 (cash only). Summer Reading Program – Sign-ups required, Elementary Grade location is Drakefield Park, Pre-school location is Dustin Park. “Transformation Nation” – Trash to Treasure, Using Recycled Materials to Build, rain location is PES. Elementary Grade Date: July 19th at 9:30-10:30 and Pre-school Date: July 20th at 10:00-11:00.
The Pittsfield Aqueduct committee will be meeting on Wed, July 19th at 7:00 PM at the Town Hall. Anyone with suggested changes to the proposed Water District boundaries (see Proposed PVWD at pittsfieldnh.gov town website) is urged to attend and submit those changes at that time. Those suggestions can also be submitted via E-mail to f72116@aol.com.
